Characteristics
Brachoria grapevinensis individuals are about 44.5 mm long and 10.3 mm wide (females 46.3 mm X 10.6 mm). Color: 3-spotted red (6.25R 5/14, shown above), orange (3.75YR 5/12), or yellow (1.25Y 8/14) lateral paranotal spots but with orange (3.75YR 5/12) medial metatergal stripes; and combined striped/3-spotted red (6.25R 5/12).

Habitat
Brachoria grapevinensis specimens were collected during the day (16:30) in a moist birch forest. Individuals were found beneath layers of decomposing leaf material near Grapevine Creek, within about 50 m from the water. One other xystodesmid encountered sympatrically at this locality is Apheloria virginiensis corrugata, which appears similar in coloration with the B. grapevinensis 3-spotted yellow/orange color morph.Distribution
Known only from the type locality in Pike Co., Kentucky. The closest known Brachoria species, B. hoffmani, occurs about 21 km southwest near Virgie, Pike County, Kentucky.Conservation status
Brachoria grapevinensis is threatened by habitat loss due to agriculture (especially growing demand for paper products), coal mining, development, and the invasion of exotic species.References
