Hydrochus

This common monogeneric family contains slightly less than 200 species, and is likely the largest of the “lesser” hydrophiloid families. The group occurs in all major biogeographic regions except Antarctica. All members are, generally speaking, similar in body form and rarely exceeding 5mm (most are only a few mm long).
Discussion of Phylogenetic Relationships
No studies have been conducted about the phylogeny of this family.
